There’s something deeply comforting about a bowl of warm, spiced daal — especially when it’s creamy, garlicky, and full of soul. This Creamy Masoor Daal Bliss is my go-to for those cosy evenings when you want something nourishing, simple, yet deeply satisfying.

Made with red lentils (masoor daal), a touch of milk for creaminess, and finished with a sizzling garlic-cumin tarka, this daal hits all the right notes. It’s quick to make, easy on the wallet, and absolutely perfect with hot rice or soft roti.

Whether you’re new to daal or a lifelong fan, this version is a must-try. Trust me — it’s the kind of dish that feels like a warm hug in a bowl. 💛

1 cup Masoor daal (brown lentils), soaked for 1 hour

3 cups water

1 tsp salt

¼ tsp turmeric powder

¼ cup milk

1 tbsp ghee

3–4 garlic cloves,

thinly sliced 1-inch piece of ginger

2 whole dried red chillies

1 tsp cumin seeds

Instructions:

Prep the Daal: After soaking the masoor daal for an hour, drain and add it to a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water.

Spice it Up: Add salt, red chilli powder, and turmeric. Pressure cook for 5 minutes (or 2–3 whistles).

Creamy Goodness: Open the lid carefully, stir in ¼ cup milk, and let it simmer on low heat for 7–8 minutes, until rich and creamy.

Make the Tarka (Tempering): In a small pan, heat ghee. Add sliced garlic, ginger, and whole chillies. Sauté for a minute, then add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

Finish Strong: Pour the hot tarka over the daal. Garnish with fresh coriander and a drizzle of cream.

Serve with: Steamed rice, naan, or buttery parathas for a comforting, soul-satisfying meal!
