Ingredients
1 tsp salt
500 grams plain flour (4 cups)
1 sachet of dried yeast
3 tbsp of yoghurt
1.5 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp soda.
Kalonji (Nigella seeds) 4 tsp (you can skip if you don’t like kalonji)
I activate yeast by taking 300ml lukewarm water and dissolving sugar in it. Add yeast, cover the bowl and keep it for 10 mins.
Add rest of ingredients and then knead with yeast water.
Spray some oil in the bowl, and keep the dough in it. Cover with some clingfilm and leave it in the microwave or oven (warm dark place) for 2 hours. Then take them out, knead in balls, keep in the tray, sprinkle flour so that they dont stick, cover with a cloth and leave them for 15-30 mins. Slightly dampen the cloth with water.
When you are ready to cook, heat the tawa, roll out the dough, sprinkle some sesame seeds and oil (optional). Cook on tawa until bubbles appear and then put in under the grill for 1-2 mins. Or until you feel its cooked.
Enjoy the yummy homemade naan!
